The man was sentenced to 23 years in prison and is obliged to pay the mother of his ex-wife 2 million rubles in compensation for moral damage. As Interfax writes, after the divorce, a resident of Tomsk remained in the same apartment with his ex-wife and mother-in-law. The relationship did not go well, and in August last year he conceived a murder. "Taking a can of gasoline, he knocked down his mother-in-law, which he immediately doused with gasoline and set on fire. Then he began to beat his ex-wife, after which he also doused her with gasoline and set her on fire." According to the materials of the case, the woman in search of rescue ran out to the stairwell, where her ex-husband caught up and started beating her. A neighbor, who looked out at the noise, managed to stop the reprisal. While the arsonist was busy with his ex-wife, his mother-in-law was able to rip off her burning clothes. This allowed the elderly woman to survive. And her daughter, who received burns of 60% of the body surface, died in the burn department of the regional hospital. During the trial, the man apologized to his former mother-in-law, explaining that he "suddenly had negative emotions."
