MOSCOW, December 24. / TASS /. The work of medical organizations will be strengthened during the New Year holidays in several directions. This was stated by Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko at a government briefing on Thursday.
"New Year's holidays are a serious test for the healthcare system. Strengthening the work of medical organizations will take place in several directions," he said.
The first direction to strengthen the work was to provide assistance to patients with COVID-19. He recalled that health workers will receive double the salary, but also social benefits.
"It is necessary that both the outpatient service and the inpatient unit continue to provide assistance to all those in need during this period," he added.
The third area will be to strengthen care for injuries, poisoning and cardiovascular diseases. The minister noted that the number of hospitalizations increases on New Year's holidays, and urged Russians to be moderate in food and alcohol consumption.
Increase in the number of patients
Murashko asked Russians on New Year's holidays to "carefully handle" alcohol and "be moderate" in food consumption in order to avoid poisoning and injury. "During this period, we see that the number of admitted patients is increasing, this is most often due to the removal of some certain restrictions that we use in our ordinary life. I would like to ask you, be moderate in your food intake, handle carefully with alcohol. Insure yourself and your children against injury, "he said.
Murashko noted that, for example, drinking alcohol even in small doses can provoke exacerbations in people suffering from cardiovascular diseases. "And this can lead to destabilization of the condition and the need to seek emergency medical care," he stressed.
Birth of children
At least 30 thousand children are born during the New Year holidays, which creates an additional mood for both parents and medical personnel, Murashko said.
“There are also pleasant events - at least 30 thousand children are born on New Year's holidays in obstetric institutions. This is always a bright event. And the first child who appears after the chiming clock is an event for the entire duty team, for mother and her relatives. Often they even argue who will be born first - a boy or a girl. This sacrament on New Year's Eve always creates an additional mood both for the team on duty and for the patients themselves, "he said.
